| After The Sale - Overview |
| After you and the purchaser have agreed upon a price and terms of the sale and all the subjects have been removed, your realtor will send all of the necessary documentation to your lawyer or notary and they will contact you just prior to closing. Closing costs for sellers are generally much less than for purchasers as all that is involved is the transferring of title to the new owner and the discharge of the mortgage if you have one. It is advisable to check several lawyers and notaries as their costs will vary.
As soon as your sale is final, the lockbox will be removed and a sold sign will replace the for sale sign. You can finally relax - at least for a little while until you have to begin packing. If you plan to hire a mover, it is advisable to line one up as soon as possible because they get very busy at certain times of the year and because the majority of people move on the same day (the end of the month). |
